The ingredients needed to prepare Meduvada:
- Provide 2 cups urad dal
- Get 1 tbsp rice flour
- Get to taste Salt
- Get 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Take 1 finely chopped green chilli
- Use 1/2 Tsp grated ginger
- Prepare 1 pinch asafoetida
- Provide 5-6 black pepper
- Use 1 tbsp dry chopped coconut
- Take as required Oil for frying
Steps to make Meduvada:
- Add 2 cups urad dal to a large bowl and wash it well rubbing with your hand. Rinse it well at least 3 to 4 times & drain the water.
- Soak the urad dal in enough water for at least 3-4 hours. drain all the water from soaked dal. Grind urad dal to smooth paste using very little water.
- Add cumin seeds, green chilli, ginger, black peper and chopped dry coconut to the batter. Mix it very well continuously about 5 minutes. add 1 tbsp of rice flour and mix well. rice flour is added to make it crispy.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan in medium flame. Now take tea strainer and wet it with water and wet your hands take a ball of dough. Put it on the strainer. And make the hole in the center.
- Now drop it in the hot oil.Repeat the same for each vada dip back of the strainer in water and take ball of dough and makes vadas shape.
- Deep-fry on a medium flame till it turns golden brown in colour from both the sides.
- Repeat with the remaining batter to make more medu vadas. Drain on an absorbent paper.
- Serve the medu vada immediately with sambhar and coconut chutney.
