The ingredients needed to cook Lemon Rasam:
  1. Take Rasam :
  2. Get 1/4 cup tur dal Tuvar / -
  3. Get 4 cups Water -
  4. Take to taste Salt
  5. Use 1/4 tsp Turmeric -
  6. Get 1 tsp Jeera -
  7. You need 1 tbsp black pepper Crushed - (or more)
  8. You need 1 Curry leaves (sprig) -
  9. Take 2 or 3 tbsps lemon Juice of     -
  10. Use Temepering :
  11. Provide 1 tsp Oil * -
  12. Provide 1 Curry leaves (sprig) -
  13. Provide 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds -
  14. Use 1/4 tsp Asafoetida - (optional)
Steps to make Lemon Rasam:
  1. Pressure cook  the tur dal with curry leaves, turmeric, salt  and crushed black pepper. Cool.
  2. Add the salt, jeera powder,  and boil it for a few min on a medium flame.
  3. Remove from flame add the lemon juice.
  4. Heat oil in a small kadai (Low to medium flame). Add the mustard seeds and when it starts to splutter add the curry leaves and asafoetida (optional).  Immediately remove from the flame and add it to the rasam. Serve  it hot  as a drink/soup or  with rice as a side dish.
