- Soak and wash rice and two types of lentils, drain it properly.
- Marinate fish for 5-10 minutes with little salt, turmeric and red chilli powder,heat oil in a pan till it reaches it's smoke point,and slightly fry both sides of the fish, keep it aside.
- In same oil,add bay leaf, whole dry red chilli, cinnamon, green cardamom,let it crackle, then add sliced onion,fry it till translucent.
- Add garlic, ginger paste, sugar,red chilli powder, turmeric,cook it till oil separate.
- Add rice, lentils,salt and clarified butter/ ghee, cook it for couple of minutes.
- Now add boiling water, keep it on high flame for 2 minutes, cover with lid and keep in low flame for 8-9 minutes or till water evaporates a bit.
- Put off the flame,open the cover and scoop out half khichdi,then arrange the fish pieces as shown below.
- Now place the rest of the khichdi over the arranged fish,add splits green chillies, again cook it in low flame for 5-7 minutes after air-sealing the pan.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
