The ingredients needed to make Kovai Varutha Curry:
- You need 1/2 kg Chicken (with skin will give you better taste)
- You need 2 nos Big Onions
- You need 1 Green chilli
- You need 1 1/2 Tomato
- Provide 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- Prepare 5-6 curry leaves
- You need 1/2 tsp Pepper
- You need to taste Salt
- Provide as needed Cooking oil
- Get as needed Coconut oil
- You need 1cup Curd
- Use as needed Chicken Varuval Podi
- Provide 1 -1 each Cinnamon,Cardamon,Cloves
Instructions to make Kovai Varutha Curry:
- Marinate the chicken with ginger,garlic,curd,turmeric powder mix well and set aside for 1/2 an hour
- Chop 1 onion and fry till golden brown and place it seperatly
- Heat kadai add 3 tbsp of coconut oil and add cinnamon,cardamon and cloves (for taste) then add chopped onions fry till it turns golden brown then add tomatoes,green chilli once fried add ginger garlic paste and saute till it cooks
- Now add little bit of water then add the varuval podi (i used a homemade powder) let it cook for some time
- Now add the marinated chicken and then salt and mix well let this mixture cook till it turns dry
- Once this mixture turns dry add crushed pepper
- Now add fried onions and garnish with coriander leaves.this dish goes well with briyani,white rice and roti
