The ingredients needed to cook Aliv ladoo(Garden cress seeds/Halim):
  1. Take 65 gm aliv
  2. Take 1 1/4 glass Coconut water
  3. Take 2 grated fresh coconut
  4. Get 450 gm finely chopped jaggery
  5. Prepare 1 tbs Ghee
Instructions to make Aliv ladoo(Garden cress seeds/Halim):
  1. Take a aliv in a bowl. Add coconut water in it. Mix well.
  2. Cover add rest it for 3 to 4 hours.
  3. Heat the ghee in a pan on low flame. Add grated fresh coconut, soaked aliv and finely chopped jaggery.
  4. You can add finely chopped almonds and cashews also. It is optional.
  5. Mix well and cook till the mixture leaves the side of the pan.
  6. It will take approximately 30 to 40 minutes.
  7. Switch off the gas. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
  8. Let it cool down completely. Roll it out into ladoo. Aliv ladoo is ready. Store it in refrigerator for about 15 days. It will good at room temperature for 4 to 5 days.

The ladoos ( sweet balls) are made using jaggery , fresh coconut , dry fruits and garden cress seeds. आळीव or Garden Cress seeds are loaded with nutrients. They are rich in iron, folate, Vitamin A,C,E, calcium, fibre and proteins. Aliv can be consumed by preparing ladoo, kheer, modaks,chikki out of them. Since I prepared Aliv Ladoo in Ganpati season as prasad for our Bappa, I shaped them as. halim ladoo is a traditional Maharashtrian sweet dish made with iron-rich garden cress seeds, ghee, jaggery, rava, powered almonds and You can also add other dried fruits like cashew nuts, walnuts, pistachios can also be added to fortify aliv laddu. Mix well and our mixture for halim laddu is ready!!
